Bad Boys II

4 12 2007

After finishing work at Gravytrain Limited the other day, I returned home to watch Bad Boys II.

Its not the ebst film i’ve ever seen but it was well worth the watch.
I do like films to have a lot of aciton and boy did this film have a lot of action!

Its about two cops who work together trying to take down a criminal.
Lots of high powered action, guns, and some hostage taking.

I would recommend this film and I would give it:
3 Stars

Simon from Gravytrain Limited had this to say about the film: A superb film in terms of action, story line is very predictable and it could have had a bit more going on in terms of the plot.

Alfie

15 10 2007

Well I turned my TV on last night to see Alfie on Channel 4 and thought I might as well watch this.

I now wish I hadn’t bothered, I’ll start by saying I can honestly say there is no chance of me ever wanting to see it again.

For those of you who dont know what Alfie is about, here is a short explaination as give by Helen from Gravytrain Limited:
Alfie is a man who can not stop falling for lots of different women one after another. He doesnt have much success with the ladies in terms of a lasting relationship. Alfie begins to see his ways as not being the best way forward, so he claims to want to change. Unfortunately for him the woman he wants it to change with is the female version of Alfie and he walks in on her cheating on him this time. Poor, poor Aflie, but what did he expect?

The film itself isn’t worth the 2 hrs it lasts for, so for that reason i’ll give it a rating of:
Alfie Gravytrain Limited

Once again thanks for reading!

The Fast And The Furious

10 10 2007

For anyone who hasn’t heard of this film before its a film based around the “boy racing” scene. Men and women who have modified their cars in order to look and perform to a higher standard, enter races, place bets, and of course cause crimes in order to fund their expensive habbits.

With actors such as:
- Vin Diesel (Dominic)
- Paul Walkner (Brian)
- Michelle Rodriguez (Letty)
- And many more…..

Well the film starts by taking you through the life of Brian not letting you find out too much of what he’s about. They show him and his modded car racing around off road trying to perfect his driving ability. We later see him get into a race against the main driver, Dominic, who shows him how it is done. That race costs Brian his car which later ends up being totally destroyed by a rival of Dominic’s.

All of a sudden whilst Brian is working at a car part sales shop we see him driving the work van and being pulled over by police. They take him aside and appear to arrest him, although moments later we first realise that he is an undercover cop working to track down a group who have been ambushing lorries in order to steal the merchandise.

Brian bonds with members of the racing scene and in the end decides to let them get free and even helps them escape from the ambush on a lorry.

Has he turned to the racing side? Did he get a soft spot for Mia (Dominic’s Sister)?
I asked these questions to the workers of Gravytrain Limited and this is what they had to say.

Will: I think he knew he shouldn’t help them but he had true feelings for Mia and couldn’t stand by and watch her get hurt.

Rich: He enjoyed the racing life to much, he had to let them go, he saw them as his friends.

Rich and Will work at Gravytrain Limited and also have a great love for films.

Although my review informs you of the happenings in the film it doesnt really tell you my opinion, which to sum up is:
A good film but slow at parts, lacks any real sense to the film and I felt it ended to soon. There could of been so much more in this film and a lot more races.

I would give this film:
The Fast And The Furious

Thanks again.

First Film Review

8 10 2007

Over the weekend just gone I had a bit of spare time away from Gravytrain Limited and thought I would sit down and begin watching Smokin’ Aces.

Smokin’ Aces has actors in such as:
- Ryan Reynolds (Blade Trinity)
- Ray Liotta
- Ben Affleck
- And many more!

Smokin’ Aces has a confusing twist to the plot and I dont want to spoil it to much for anyone who wants to see it.
The film begins by telling you there is a certain man called Bobby Israel who is going to be a witness for the US Governement in order to take down some high flyers. It is then shown that several groups have been informed there is a price on his head and people start sending out hits for him and therefore he becomes under a lot of pressure from various groups wanting to kill him.

The plot bends and twists involving flash backs and a lot of gun action later on in the film. Its a bit like the program heroes if you have seen it in the sense that people are working seperately but are linked together by a certain cause. In this case it is either to protect or kill Bobby.

Its an interesting film and it was definately better than sitting around getting bored.

I’d give it:

Gravytrain Limited

This is what Will from Gravytrain Limited had to say about Smokin’ Aces:
I think most people, myself included, who saw the trailer, were expecting something different, something less ‘experiemental’ …I’m trying to be kind to it. It has pleanty of good points, but they’re all so badly stuck together it barely matters.”

Thats all for now!
Thanks for reading!

Ever Growing Film Collection

5 10 2007

As an employee of Gravytrain Limited, and this being my first job, my salary has allowed me the chance to begin purchasing DVD’s old and new. So far i’ve ordered over £200 worth of DVD’s from various genres. To name but a few…..

- Mean Machine (Vinnie Jones Version)
- Independence Day
- The Bourne Supremacy
- Tribe (Bruce Parry Documentary).
- Transporter 2
- And many more!

My colleagues at Gravytrain Limited think I am crazy to spend so much on films, especially as I have huge plans to continue purchasing more and more.

I’m going to be using this blog to discuss my collection and write reviews on what I’ve seen!
